Woman Spots Headless Horseman (South Texas)

“This took place in the early 1990’s in Weslaco, Texas.

I was like 13 or 14 at the time and we were inside my parents house.  It was late and some of our cousins had gone over so we decided to play hide and seek that night.

We had been playing for about 30 minutes.  It was my turn to count and then go look for everyone, so I covered my eyes and leaned my head against the wall so I couldn’t see where they were hiding.  As soon as I finished, I said, “here I come!” and I started to look around in front of my house, but I couldn’t see anyone so I figured maybe they hid in the back of the house.

I started walking to the left of my house to go to the back and to my surprise when I got to the edge of the wall and looked towards the back, I saw the headless horseman crossing from my house to the neighbor’s house.  I got so scared I freaked out and started yelling, “That’s it! I ain’t playing anymore, come out, I’m not gonna look for you, I’m going inside!”

And I did, all shooken up still and everyone came inside and said,” what happened, why didn’t you look for us?”  I started telling them what I had seen and nobody believed me. They thought I was crazy and I had imagined things, but then my older brother came in from outside super pale from his face and everyone asked, “what’s wrong with you?” and he said, “You will never believe what I just saw outside…” and started saying he saw the same thing I did.

The weird thing was we weren’t together when we were outside… I’m 40 now, he is 44 and we still tell that story and we both know exactly what we saw… no joke.” -Veronica
