Welcome to a tale that blends the ordinary with the unsettling. What started as a family gathering—filled with laughter, food, and a movie night—took a dark turn when strange events unfolded and dread filled the house, the line between the normal and the paranormal blurred, leaving a lasting chill.
The Story
When I was ten, my family arrived at my aunt’s house after a rainy night filled with delicious food from Wingstop. We were all enjoying our time, playing board games and starting to watch The Conjuring, but we didn’t finish it. The atmosphere was peaceful until one of my cousins suddenly began throwing up, prompting him and his dad to leave early. This unexpected event shocked everyone and caught us off guard.
Although we resumed the movie, many were concerned and called to ensure my cousin made it home safely. After finishing The Conjuring, we began wrapping up the evening. Eventually, only my aunt, my dad, my four cousins (her children), and I remained. My uncle, who owned the house, was upstate for work and had spotted something moving around the property. He shared a picture from his camera, revealing an unidentifiable figure that could not be seen remotely.
As we sat around discussing the eerie atmosphere in the house—especially after my uncle’s unsettling photo—we eventually retired to our rooms, as it was already around 2 AM. I awoke later to use the restroom. Upon returning, I paused at my door, distracted by the TV in the room turning on. I left the door ajar while I turned it off. As I approached the door to close it, a shiny, colorful bouncy ball unexpectedly rolled into the room. Startled, I assumed one of my cousins was playing a prank. When no one responded, I called out, telling them to stop because it was no longer funny.
In that moment, a wave of unease washed over me. The combination of the eerie atmosphere and the sudden appearance of the ball triggered a sense of panic. I felt my stomach churn, and before I knew it, I was overcome with nausea and ended up throwing up. The feeling of dread lingered, amplifying my anxiety. I eventually settled down and tried to sleep despite my lingering paranoia.
Later, I was jolted awake by a loud crash outside the house. Firefighters and an ambulance arrived soon after, their sirens piercing the stillness of the night. While I’m not claiming that these events were connected, there is certainly a possibility—if one believes in the paranormal.
That night was just one of many intriguing experiences my family and I have had at that house, leaving us to wonder about the mysteries hidden within its walls. – Julio
