A long time ago, the small town of Aquilla, Texas was burnt to the ground twice due to trains throwing sparks as they rode through. There were many train tracks that ran through the town, but because of the fires, they were then removed so the townspeople could be safe and so they wouldn’t have to deal with such fires ever again.
After they had removed the tracks, you would think that you would never hear or see a train in that area again, right? Wrong. People who live in that area say that still hear the trains to this day. Residents of the surrounding neighborhoods say that the train sounds are so loud they awaken them in the middle of the night. They often feel the rattling of their belongings.
Have you ever seen a train light? If not, you should know that they are very bright, and they can often be blinding if you look directly into them. This is another thing that many residents have experienced as well. Lights so bright will shine into their windows when they hear these train sounds, but when they look out the window, there is nothing out there at all.
It seems that even after the tracks were removed, the trains have lingered as ghostly apparitions. The people of Aquilla have come to accept these ghost trains as a part of their history and culture. Despite this eerie phenomenon, Texas remains a beautiful place to live, and the residents of Aquilla wouldn’t want to leave, even after death.
I have lived in Aquilla, TX my whole life and I can confirm the train horns. My family and I used to think it was just the train in Hillsboro but we soon realized that the train in Hillsboro is too far from our house.
I actually live in aquilla, TX. Ghost train is correct, hear it on a nightly basis. It’s an amazing experience. First time I heard it, I looked at my sister who was staring back at me. She told me the closest train was about 20 miles away so we researched it and found out about the ghost train.
