Audrey, a lifelong resident of El Paso’s Lower Valley, has experienced the paranormal from a young age. From strange noises to unsettling chills, she’s always been sensitive to the eerie side of her surroundings. One spring evening, Audrey’s life took an unexpected turn at Yucca Park.
The Story
“I lived in El Paso all my life. I grew up in the Lower Valley and had paranormal experiences since a very young age. I have felt creepy chills in the back of my neck when I have been near haunted places and heard strange noises outside. Once, I was in Yucca Park in the evening. It was a breezy spring night. I went walking in the park, and when I went to my car to get my sweater, I turned back and saw a young man in his 20s with a pompadour hairstyle, like from the 50s. I found it odd; his clothes looked so old-fashioned and out of place—jeans, a brown flannel shirt with a t-shirt underneath, rolled-up jeans, and brown boots.
He appeared in front of me and in Spanish said, ‘¡Ayúdame!’ He told me to help him. I grabbed my phone to maybe call 911, but he was holding his stomach, then he disappeared. He faded away. I started to shake and sweat, and my phone fell from my hands. I ran from the parking lot. I sat on one of the benches to calm down. I have never seen anything like that or been through it. I wonder what happened to that young man.” -Audrey
